Angel Records released Harem in 2003.  This is Sarah Brightman's first new album with brand new songs since La Luna.  As usual, there are different versions of this disc.  These are the lyrics to the U.S. version.  If any of the lyrics are wrong, please let me know.

HAREM

Music and Lyrics: Frederico de Brito, Ferrer Trinidade;

Adapted from Cancao do Mar, adapted by Peterson

English lyrics: Brightman, Peterson, Roxanne Seeman

(5:45)

Burning sands

Winds of desire

Mirrored oasis

Reflect a burning fire

Within my heart unwatered

Feeding the flame

Welcoming you to harem

Sing for me

A song of lifes visage

Sing for me

A tune of loves mirage

Deep desires

Sleep untold

Whispers that echo

The desert of my soul

I hold your Eastern promise

Close to my heart

Welcoming you to my harem

Sing for me

A song of lifes visage

Sing for me

A tune of loves mirage

Time is change

Times fool is man

I will escape

The passing sands of time

I hold your Eastern promise

Close to my heart

Welcoming you to my harem

What A Wonderful World

Music and Lyrics: George Douglas, George David Weiss

(3:40)

I see trees of green, red roses, too

I see them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue, clouds of white

The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky

Are also on the faces of the people going by

I see friends shaking hands, saying, "How do you do?"

Theyre really saying, "I love you"

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow

They learn much more, than Ill ever know

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

And, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world

It's A Beautiful Day

Music: Puccini; adapted by Christopher von Deylen, Peterson

Lyrics: Peterson, Brightman, von Deylen

(3:56)

Un bel di, vedremo

Le varsi un fil di fumo

Sull'e stremo con fin del mare

E poi la nave appare

With every new day

Your promises fade away

It's a fine day to see

But the last day for me

It's a beautiful day

(Repeat both stanzas)

It's the last day for me

It's a beautiful day

It's the last day for me

It's a beautiful day

What You Never Know

Music and Lyrics: Stephen Moccio

(3:24)

What you never know won't hurt you

What you never know won't lie

What you never know won't desert you

What you never know won't say goodbye

What you never know won't hurt you

What you never know won't lie

What you never know won't desert you

What you never know won't make you cry

What you never know

What you never, never, never

What you never know

What you never know won't hurt you

What you never know won't lie

What you never know won't desert you

What you never know unless you try

What you never know won't hurt you

The Journey Home

Music and Lyrics: A.R. Rahman, Don Black

(4:56)

The journey home

Is never too long

Your heart arrives before the train

The journey home

Is never too long

Some yesterdays always remain

I'm going back to where my heart was light

When my pillow was a ship that I sailed through the night

The journey home

Is never too long

When open arms are waiting there

The journey home

Is never too long

There's room to love and room to spare

I want to feel the way that I did there

And think my wishes through before I wish again

Not every boat you come across is one you have to take

Now sometimes standing still can be the best

Move you ever make!

The journey home

Is never too long

Homes hopes to heal the deepest pain

The journey home

Is never too long

Your heart arrives before the train

Free

Music: Thomas Schwarz, Matthias Meissner

Lyrics: Brightman, Sophie B. Hawkins

(3:45)

And do you still touch her like you do?

Kiss her all over in the way I kissed with you?

And when you sleep with her,

Do you sometimes think of me?

Not if you love her in the way I see

I had to be free

Had to be free

It's all that I wanted

I wanted to see

Wanted to be

Alone if I needed

I had to be free

Had to be free

From feelings that haunted

I wanted to see

Wanted to be

Free

And then in the evening when the bars of freedom fall

I watch the two of you in shadows on the wall

And when the darkness steals some of the choices from my hand

And when I begin to understand

I had to be free

Had to be free

It's all that I wanted

I wanted to see

Wanted to be

Alone if I needed

I had to be free

Had to be free

From feelings that haunted

I wanted to see

Wanted to be

Free

(Repeat last three stanzas)

Mysterious Days

Featuring Ofra Haza

Music: Lukas Hilbert, Ofra Haza, Peterson

Lyrics: Klaus Hirschburger, Bezalel Aloni

(5:17)

Springtime in Tangier

The sky's getting wider

Renewing its splendour

The world's getting brighter

Setting out just like the sun

That's never seen the rain

Stepping out, were homeward bound

And never be the same

Ah ~ we lay our hearts wide open

Ah ~ we live mysterious days

American writers

Now work in the attic

Up in the Kasbah

There's plenty to worship

Shine again Arabian moon

And be the guiding light

Life is changing like the dunes

Wandering in the night

Ah ~ we lay our hearts wide open

Ah ~ we live mysterious days

Ah ~ we lay our hearts wide open

Ah ~ we live mysterious days

Ah ~ the spell cannot be broken

Ah ~ we live mysterious days

We live mysterious days

We live mysterious days

We live mysterious days

We live mysterious days

The War Is Over

Featuring Kadim Al Sahir

Music: Kristian Draude, Patrick Benzner, Peterson

Lyrics: Draude, Benzner, Brightman

Arabian lyrics: Kareem Al Iraqi

(5:15)

My statues are falling

Like feathers of snow

Their voices are calling

In a whispering wind

Waiting for the morning glow

Heaven is calling

From a rainy shore

Counting wounded lights falling

Into their dreams

Still searching for an open door

Refrain:

In morning dew

A glorious scene came through

Like war is over now

I feel I'm coming home again

Pure moments of thought

In the meaning of love

This war is over now

I feel I 'm coming home again

An arrow of freedom

Is piercing my heart

Breaking chains of emotion

Give a moment to pray

For lost innocence to find its way

Fields of sensation

A cry in the dark

Hope is on the horizon

With a reason to stay

And living for a brand new day

(Refrain)

Arabic singing here (I'm working on the lyrics)

(Refrain)

Misere Mei

Music and Lyrics: Gregorio Alegri; adapted by Peterson

(0:54)

Amplius lava me ab iniquitate mea:

Et a peccato meo munda me

Beautiful

Music and Lyrics: Nicola Hitchcock, Saul Freeman

(4:35)

If you can depend

On certainty

Count it out and weigh it up again

You can be sure

Youve reached the end

And still you dont feel

Refrain:

Do you know youre beautiful?

Do you know youre beautiful?

Do you know youre beautiful?

You are, yes you are, yes you are

If you can ignore

What youve become

Take it out and see it die again

You can be here

For whos a friend?

And still you dont feel

(Refrain)

Innermost thoughts

Will be understood and

You can have all you need

Do you know

Do you know about anything?

Do you know

Do you know about anyone?

(Refrain x2)

Arabian Nights

Seimitar Moon ~ Music: Kristian Braude; Lyrics: Brightman, Brian Johnson

Voyage ~ Music: Carsten Heussman, Brightman, Peterson; Lyrics: Brightman

Promise ~ Music: Peterson; Lyrics: Violet

Hamesha ~ Music: Brightman, Pterson; Lyrics: Shweta Shetby

Alone ~ Music: Peter Murray, Rachel Shaw, Peterson; Lyrics: Brightman

(8:50)

Part 1: Seimitar Moon

Dont you forget the echoes of time

Wont you regret the losing of minds?

In my dreams I'm searching across the

Desert sands, for you

Seimitar moon is guiding me close to your side

Part 2: Voyage

Voyage, Voyage

Voyage, Voyage

Wilderness to wilderness

I've traveled from afar

On the soft winds of the Nadq came

Fragrance of Araar

Splendour of a thousand suns shone glory in my path

No love more pure and rage more fierce

Could still my beating heart

Voyage, Voyage

Voyage, Voyage

Part 3: Promise

So, should I return to trace the shadows of my chases?

My steps will echo there from sand to stone

I will never let my eyelids close on empty spaces

My dreams will fill the void with tales unknown

Know the mighty infinite obscures the far horizon

The whispered road I take will never bend

Alone, and will the wind return my story to its promise?

Or will my story chase me to my end?

Part 4: Hamesha

Arabic singing here (Im working on the lyrics)

Part 5: Alone

Melodies unspoken

Flowing from the lotus of my heart

Ending where we start

Promises unbroken

Promising a never-ending fire

Of love beyond desire

Ending where we start

Stranger In Paradise

Music and Lyrics: Robert Wright, George Forrest, Alexander Glasunow,

Nikolai A. Rirusky-Korsakoff, Alexander Borodin

(4:27)

Take my hand I'm a stranger in paradise

All lost in a wonderland

A stranger in paradise

If I stand starry eyed, theres a danger in paradise

For mortals who stand beside

An angel like you

I saw your face ascending

Out of the common place and into the rare

Now somewhere out in space

I hang suspending

Until I'm certain that theres a chance that you care

Wont you answer the fervent prayer

Of a stranger in paradise?

Dont send me in dark despair

From all that I hunger for

But open your angels arms

To the stranger in paradise

And tell him that he need be

A stranger no more

(Repeat all three stanzas)

Until The End Of Time

Music: Peterson, Lukas Hilbert, Brightman

Lyrics: Brightman

(6:50)

Around the world in eighty days

We sailed the seven seas

A thousand nights and one,

And forty more in fantasy

The prophecy in destiny was falling

Calling

Falling

And calling out to me

Refrain:

And will we find our destination

Within a time of resignation

A night of poetry and motion

At 69, until the end of time

If I were God and ruled the world

I'd spin a wheel of dreams

Of waking hours in paradise

And shadows in between

The prophecy in destiny was falling

Calling

Falling

And calling out to me

(Refrain)

Was there a moment of madness?

And then a momentary sadness?

A night of poetry and motion

At 69, until the end of time

You Take My Breath Away

(U.S. Bonus Track)

Music: Peterson

Lyrics: Peterson, Brightman

Dil cheez kya hai aap meri

Deiay

Deiay

We saw the holy men

Come in from Sanchi

Deiay

Deiay

We touched their souls

And heard the martyrs crying

Deiay

Deiay

Among the fields of red

We took the strange brew

Deiay

Deiay

The windless sky diwali

Moon were calling to me

Deiay

Deiay

The deeper I go

The higher I fly with you

You take my breath away

Oh you, you take my breath away
